OLD LEAVES LEFT ON A ROOF WILL CAUSE DAMAGE

We all love our trees and watching the leaves fall each autumn, the leaves can really pile up fast, including on the roof and in gutters. These piles of leaves, if left for the winter, can become a real problem. Now that it is spring all remaining leaves on the roof must be removed. Piles of these leaves can dam up water allowing it to move sideways and get into places rainwater was not ever meant to be. I have seen many roofs less than ten years old develop problems when left without some type of maintenance like roof cleaning. Leaves left on a roof will cause damage. They are an enemy of your roof and may be considered negligence if left too long on the roof. Even leaf filled gutters can cause water to back up under the shingles, destroying eaves and facia. Even the finest roofing systems can fail with leaves that pile up.
